November 29, 2022 - Update
What is the issue?
We’re experiencing an email deliverability issue with Microsoft Outlook domains (ex. outlook.com, live.com, hotmail.com, and msn.com) and domain hosts*. It was first reported on November 12, 2022. We’ve identified the root cause, and we’re working on solutions to resolve the issue.
*A domain host allows you to use your website’s name, like agencybloc.com, instead of the email provider’s name (ex. outlook.com, live.com, hotmail.com, and msn.com) as the domain. You may have email addresses in AgencyBloc that have unique domain names but are actually hosted by Microsoft Outlook.
Email deliverability
Emails from the following AgencyBloc services will bounce if sent to a Microsoft Outlook domain or hosted domain:
- Automated Workflow
- Email Marketing
- User notifications (ex. new user activation emails, Activity notification emails and password reset emails)
Until this issue is resolved, emails sent from these services to Microsoft Outlook domains will bounce, and your email deliverability rates will be impacted.
- Email delivery rate before the issue: 98.8%
- Email delivery rate since the issue started on November 12, 2022: 95.3%
Note: 95.3% of emails are still being delivered to other domains.
Removal of bounced email addresses
When an email bounces, it is automatically removed from all Agent and Individual records because it is likely invalid. While this occurs normally, due to this issue, emails are bouncing when they likely shouldn’t and we’re still removing email addresses, even though they’re likely valid.
What is AgencyBloc doing to fix the issue?
- We're investigating the enhanced email deliverability protocols implemented by Microsoft and considering our available options to comply with those updated requirements.
- We’re also working on updating our internal algorithms to identify emails that bounced due to invalid address issues from the emails that were blocked by the recipient’s email host, so we can more accurately reflect deliverability statistics.
- We implemented a datafix today that restored deleted email addresses in accounts that were impacted by this issue. We will continue to monitor the situation and automatically apply this datafix on a daily basis until this issue is fully resolved. There will be no data loss for AgencyBloc clients.
