This article explains what Ask AMS+ can help you with and how to get the best results from it.
Ask AMS+ is a conversational assistant built into AMS+, powered by AgencyBloc Intelligence. Instead of navigating to a specific page or report, you type what you need in plain language, and Ask AMS+ looks up real records, runs reports, and logs or updates data on your behalf, within your own permissions.
Requirements
- You must be logged into AMS+ as an Agency User or Agent CRM User.
- To access Ask AMS+:
- You must be assigned to a Security Group with both the Individual Visible and Policy Visible permissions.
- If either permission is missing, Ask AMS+ won't appear in your navigation, and going directly to its page redirects you to the standard no-access screen. There's no partial access with just one of the two.
- To search Individual Records:
- Included with access to Ask AMS+. No additional permission is needed.
- SSN, date of birth, and MBI are masked in results unless your Security Group also has the respective Individual Display SSN and MBI or Individual Display DOB permissions.
- To search Policy Records:
- Included with access to Ask AMS+. No additional permission is needed.
- To update an Individual Record:
- You must be assigned to a Security Group with the Individual Edit permission.
- To create, update, or view Activities on an Individual, Group, Agent, or Carrier Record:
- You must have visibility access to that record type.
- To build a custom report:
- You must be assigned to a Security Group with the Reporting Visible permission.

Finding Ask AMS+
Select the Ask AMS+ button in the app header, visible from any page. It opens as a panel on the right side of your screen.
You can change how the panel displays using the dropdown in the panel header.
- Dock (default): A side panel alongside your current page.
- Float: A floating, movable window.
- Full Page: Expands to take over the full screen.
When you open Ask AMS+ with no conversation started, it greets you by name and offers a few example prompts to try, a good starting point if you're not sure what to ask.
How Ask AMS+ works
Ask AMS+ only sees and does what you're already permitted to see and do in AMS+. It doesn't have broader access than you do, and it doesn't act as a substitute for your judgment; it's a faster way to do the lookups and updates you'd otherwise do manually.
A few things to know upfront:
- It looks things up, it doesn't guess. Ask AMS+ always searches your actual records before answering. It won't invent a policy number or a client detail it hasn't found.
- Nothing changes without your confirmation. Any request that creates, updates, or sends something shows you a plain-language confirmation card first, spelling out exactly what's about to happen. Nothing is finalized until you approve it.
- Changes are recorded under your name. When you approve a change, it's saved to AMS+ exactly as if you'd made it yourself. It shows up in the record's history under your account, not as a separate Ask AMS+ or system entry.
- It's still artificial intelligence, so verify what matters. You'll see a reminder in the message box ("Uses AI. Verify results.") any time you're chatting. Double-check important details, especially before relying on a number in a report or a value in a confirmation card.
- You can give feedback in the moment. Each response has a thumbs-up or thumbs-down option. If something's off, use thumbs-down and leave a quick note. It helps improve future responses.
What you can ask
You don't need special commands or exact phrasing. Type your request the way you'd say it to a coworker.
Find Individual Records
Find clients by name, contact details, city or state, contact status or type, tags, servicing agent, Medicare information, or policy details like carrier, coverage type, and renewal date.
"Which clients have policies renewing in the next 30 days?"
"Show me leads created in the past 30 days."
Find Policy Records
Ask for policies directly by policy number, holder name, carrier, coverage type, status, premium, or date.
"Show me all policies with Blue Cross renewing in Q3."
Update an Individual Record
Update personal information, contact information, client fields on an Individual Record.
"Update Sarah Johnson's phone number to 555-123-4567."
Manage Activities
See Activities for any Individual, Group, Agent, or Carrier Record. Creating, updating, or completing an Activity works only for Individual Records and Policy Records associated with an Individual Record. For Group, Agent, or Carrier Records, you can see what's there, but can't add or change anything.
"What are my overdue activities?"
"Log a call I just had with John Smith about his renewal."
"Mark my follow-up call with Jane Doe as complete."
Build a custom report
Describe the report you want, including the record type, fields, filters, and how to group or sort results. Ask AMS+ builds it and displays the results as a table you can export.
"Build a report of individuals with a policy renewing in the next 60 days, grouped by carrier, and let me export it."
A few things aren't available right now
- Creating new Individual or Policy Records. Ask AMS+ can find and update existing records, but new records still need to be created directly in AMS+.
- Updating Policy Record fields. Ask AMS+ can update Individual Records, but Policy Record fields aren't editable through Ask AMS+ right now. Update those directly on the Policy Record.
- Sending enrollment forms (Rx Collect, ACA, SOA)
- Group, Agent, and Carrier Records, beyond logging Activities against them
- Benefits records
- Browsing past conversations
If you ask about something Ask AMS+ doesn't handle, it will let you know and point you toward what it can help with instead.
Getting the best results
- Be specific with names and details. "Update John Smith's phone number" works better than "update that client's number" if there's more than one John Smith on your book. If a request is ambiguous, Ask AMS+ will ask you to clarify rather than guess.
- Handle one task at a time. Ask AMS+ is most reliable when a request has a single, clear goal. A message that bundles several unrelated asks together is harder for Ask AMS+ to work through cleanly.
- Start a new conversation for a new topic. Ask AMS+ keeps the thread of your current conversation in mind to understand follow-up questions. When you're switching to a different client or a different kind of task, starting fresh helps keep responses focused and accurate.
- Read the confirmation card before approving. It's your chance to catch a misidentified record or an incorrect value before anything is saved.
For example, this one message bundles three separate tasks together:
"hey can you update john smith's number to 555-412-3099? also just got off the phone with him about his renewal, can you log that, and while you're in there pull a report of everything he has renewing this quarter"
- update john smith's number to 555-412-3099 = Update a record (Update Individual)
- just got off the phone with him about his renewal, can you log that = Log an Activity (Activities)
- pull a report of everything he has renewing this quarter = Build a report (Custom Reports)
Send these as three separate messages instead. Each one gets a clean result, and its own confirmation card if it changes data, rather than one response trying to handle all three at once.
Usage limits
Ask AMS+ usage is monitored against a daily limit set for your agency. If your agency has a limit configured, you'll see a usage indicator in the chat window. If the daily limit is reached, Ask AMS+ will let you know, and you can pick back up the next day.
Data and privacy
Ask AMS+ follows the same data privacy and security standards covered in Overview of AgencyBloc Intelligence in AMS+, including HIPAA-compliant infrastructure, no use of your data to train artificial intelligence models, and enforcement of your existing Security Group permissions.
