Who this article is for: Agencies currently using Outlook Email Sync or the Legacy Email & Calendar Integration (the mailbox viewer you connect and browse manually). Both are being replaced by AutoSync Email.
Note: If you haven't set up either of those yet, this article doesn't apply to you. See How to set up AutoSync Email in AMS+ instead. Autosync Email is currently in beta. Moving to it isn't required yet. You can continue using either legacy feature until you're ready, or until AgencyBloc announces a required migration date.
What's changing
AMS+ is introducing AutoSync Email as the one path for getting email into your client records going forward. It's the foundation for upcoming email features, and it brings together what are currently several different ways email reaches AMS+ (Outlook Email Sync and the Legacy Email & Calendar Integration) into a single, consistent experience.
When you do move, here's what changes:
- If you're on Outlook Email Sync: instead of syncing only from the desktop app where the add-in is installed, and needing to right-click a message or file it into a synced folder to bring it into AMS+, AutoSync Email captures matching messages automatically, from any connected device.
- If you're on the Legacy Email & Calendar Integration: instead of browsing your mailbox and associating each message yourself, AutoSync Email does that automatically.
- Either way: a message relevant to more than one client record, like a shared household inbox, now reaches every matching Individual Record instead of just one.
None of this is required yet. Outlook Email Sync and the Legacy Email & Calendar Integration will keep working until AgencyBloc announces a required migration date. Move whenever it makes sense for your agency.
How to move to AutoSync Email
If you're using Outlook Email Sync
Email that Outlook Email Sync has already saved to your records stays exactly where it is. Moving doesn't delete, merge, or duplicate that history.
- Set up AutoSync Email. See How to set up AutoSync Email in AMS+.
- Turn off the Outlook Email Sync Add-In on the computer where it's installed, so the same email isn't saved twice. It keeps syncing until you do. See Deactivating integration in How to set up Outlook Email Sync.
If you're using the Legacy Email & Calendar Integration
Any messages you've already associated with records stay put. From your connected mailbox, select Upgrade to AutoSync Email. You don't need to connect your account again: this reuses the connection you already have, so you won't see a new permissions screen.
You'll still choose which folders to sync and how far back to sync. Unlike Outlook Email Sync, so AutoSync Email can pull in a set amount of history rather than starting from a blank slate. See How to set up AutoSync Email in AMS+ for the full walkthrough of both choices.
Before you upgrade: You'll temporarily lose the ability to move or delete emails from within your connected mailbox. Upgrading gives you automatic syncing and the new inbox experience, but moving and deleting messages isn't available there yet. If you rely on those actions day to day, plan around this until that functionality is available in late 2026.
If you're using both at the same time
If you have both Outlook Email Sync and the Legacy Email & Calendar Integration active, upgrading either one to AutoSync Email doesn't turn off Outlook Email Sync. Turn off the Outlook Email Sync Add-In on the computer where it's installed, so the same email isn't saved twice. See Deactivating integration in How to set up Outlook Email Sync.
