This article explains how to upload and store call recordings from third-party phone systems in AMS+. If you're using the AMS+ Phone Dialer, see Call recordings in AMS+ instead.
Where to upload call recordings
You can upload and attach call recording files to Activities (recommended) or Notes/Attachments. Activities can't be deleted, which makes them better for maintaining a complete history of client interactions. Notes/Attachments can be deleted.
Both options have file size and file type limits. See Attachment limitations.
Attachment limitations
- File size: The file size limit for Activities and Notes/Attachments is 125MB. File type and bit rate will affect file size.
- File types: Accepted audio file types are .mp3, .mp4, and .wav.
How to upload call recordings
Manually
To manually upload a call recording to AMS+:
- Go to the record of the contact you had a call with.
- Go to the Activities tab.
- Create an Activity and add notes about the conversation.
Adding notes helps you remember what the conversation was about without having to open and listen to the recording.
- Upload the call recording file and save.
You will be prompted to find and select the file you want to upload. See Attachment limitations for accepted file sizes and types.
Automatically
If your third-party VoIP app supports integrations or API connections, you may be able to automate the upload process. AMS+ has partnered integrations with Intulse and Five9, which support automatic call logging. If you're using a different app, Zapier can connect many VoIP platforms to AMS+ without a developer, or you can build a custom integration via API. Your VoIP app must support call recording triggers for automation to work.
Common questions
Are there storage limitations in AMS+?
No.
If I have a client who is deceased and their call recordings are past the 10-year data retention requirement, can I delete the Activities and call recordings?
You can't delete Activities, but you can delete the Individual Record. Deleting the record will remove all associated Activities, Notes & Attachments, and other data.
