Note for Enhanced Records accounts: Lead Routing Rules are only available for Sales Records. This does not apply to your account. To check if your account is on Enhanced Records, visit the Subscription page.
Lead Routing Rules automatically assign Sales Records to specific agents on your team. For a single agent, this might mean auto-assigning all leads from particular vendors. For larger teams, you can set up round-robin assignments for agents licensed in certain states or selling specific coverage types.
This article explains how to create a Lead Routing Rule and how triggers work. Lead Routing Rules can only be triggered under specific conditions — such as importing Sales Records, using API/Lead POST, or leveraging premium Legacy Sales Automated Workflow actions.
Note: Lead Routing Rules are used to auto-assign Sales Records to agents. They do not route calls through our VoIP Phone Dialer.

How to create a Lead Routing Rule
- Go to My Agency Settings.
- Find and open the Lead Routing Rules setting.
- Select the Add Routing Rule button.
- Name the rule.
- If you're creating multiple rules, you can order them by priority. The rule with a priority of 1 will always have the highest priority.
- Select what Sales Records will be assigned with this rule.
Use the available filters to specify which Sales Records the rule will assign.
- Add the agents you want to receive the Sales Records.
- Set the assignment order. First, second, third, and so on. It will then round-robin back to the first when that list is done.
- When ready, select the Create Rule button to finish setup.
AMS+ will now look at the rule to determine where to assign Sales Records.
How Lead Routing Rules are triggered
Lead Routing Rules have trigger events that make them activate automatically. There are three ways to trigger a rule:
- Importing a list of Sales Records: In your import file, ensure the mapped Agent column is filled with "Auto".
- Using API or Lead POST: For the Agent parameter, post "Auto" as the first name and leave the last name field blank.
- Using a premium Legacy Sales Automated Workflow action (Reassign Agent): In the To Who field, select "Auto".
When a Sales Record's assigned agent is set to "Auto" by any of the above methods, AMS+ evaluates the Lead Routing Rules. If the record meets the rule criteria, it's assigned to an agent from the rule's list.
