This article explains how to use the Legacy Email Editor to build and format emails in AMS+.
The Legacy Email Editor is used in older Servicing Email Marketing campaigns and Servicing Workflows.
Newer campaigns and workflows use the Enhanced Email Editor, which provides additional layout and content options.
Requirements
- Email Marketing or Automated Workflow must be activated in your agency's AMS+ account.
- Only the Account Owner can activate it. Learn more.
- You must be logged into AMS+ as an Agency User.
- You must be assigned to a Security Group with the Manage Email Marketing or Manage Automated Workflow permission.
Build the email using the editor
The Legacy Email Editor uses a toolbar-based interface to format text, insert links, and edit content.
Compared to the Enhanced Email Editor, this editor provides a more limited set of formatting and layout options.
Maximize the editor screen
To view more of your email while editing:
- Select the Maximize icon (four arrows pointing outward) to expand the editor to full screen.

- Select the icon again to return to the default view.
Add a link to an email
You can add a link to direct a recipient to a website.
To add a link:
- Highlight a word or phrase in your email.

- Select the Link icon (looks like a chainlink) in the toolbar.

- In the pop-up window, enter or paste the URL.
- Select OK.
The selected text will become a clickable link.
The "Target" option controls how the link opens from the email.

Attach files to emails as links
The Legacy Email Editor does not support attaching files to emails. his limitation is due to potential file size and compatibility issues for recipients.
Instead, include a link to the file using one of the following:
- A page on your website, or
- A file stored in a secure external cloud file storage outside of AMS+
Edit an email in HTML
The editor allows you to view and edit the email in HTML format.
- Select the Source icon to open the HTML view.

- Edit or insert HTML as needed.
- Select the Source icon again to return to the standard view.
Control line spacing in emails
The editor uses a "hard" return when you select Enter, which creates a paragraph break (double spacing).
To create a single-spaced line break:
- Hold the SHIFT key.
- Select the Enter key.
