Making a Zap with AMS+

Overview

In this article, you'll learn the basics of making a Zap with AMS+. "Zap" is the name of workflows in Zapier. For more in-depth resources on Zap setup, visit Zapier's site. See our app page in Zapier for Zap templates.

Note: To make Zaps with AMS+, the Zapier integration must be active in your AMS+ account. Learn how to activate the integration.

Basics of making a Zap

Go to Zapier's website and log in to your Zapier account. Once logged in, you will do three things:

1. Connect AMS+ to Zapier
2. Set up a Zap using our AgencyBloc app
3. Turn the Zap on

1. Connect AMS+ to Zapier

For this step, you will need an API Key. Learn how to generate API keys. With the API key, you can authenticate the connection between AMS+ and Zapier.

You can connect AMS+ from the Zapier dashboard or during Zap setup. You’ll get the same results either way.

To connect AMS+ from the Zapier dashboard:

In Zapier, go to My Apps.

Add AgencyBloc.

You will enter your AMS+ API key to authenticate the connection and allow Zapier to access and modify your AMS+ data.

You can connect other apps to Zapier too, but keep in mind that each app may use a different authentication method.

2. Set up a Zap using our AgencyBloc app

To make a Zap, you will need to set AgencyBloc’s app as either a Trigger or an Action. If you want to send AMS+ data to third-party apps, set AgencyBloc as the Trigger. If you want to send data from third-party apps to AMS+, set AgencyBloc as the Action.

In Zapier, start making a Zap.

Set up the Trigger.

The Trigger is an event that starts your Zap. Every app has different Trigger events. See AgencyBloc's Trigger events.

Set up the Action.

The Action is an event that your Zap performs after it starts. Every app has different Action events. See AgencyBloc's Action events.

3. Turn the Zap on

While making a Zap, you will test every Trigger and Action. Each test validates that the connected apps are passing data to Zapier without issue. You can turn on a Zap once all the tests pass. If a test fails, you may need to troubleshoot and resolve any problems until it passes.

• To test an AgencyBloc Trigger event, you may have to create or update a record (Group/Individual/Policy/Activity) to trigger the Zap.
• To test an AgencyBloc Action event, you may have to do something in the third-party app to trigger the Zap.

If you make changes to an active Zap's Triggers or Actions, you will have to do the tests all over again. Learn more about Trigger test data for Zaps.

Tip: Use a test record that is reflective of the scenario you are trying to automate. Make sure your test record meets the criteria that you’re setting up in the Zap. If the tests do not pass, you won’t be able to turn on the Zap. You have to have a good test that meets the Zap criteria so you can turn it on at the end.
