Activity Type is a field that indicates the nature of Activities in your account. Examples of Activity Types include “Initial Contact”, “Prospecting”, and “Quote Process”. You can modify Activity Types at the account level in Settings > Servicing > Data & Custom Fields.
You must belong to a Security Group with the “Data & Custom Fields” Administrative permission to add, edit, or remove Activity Types.

Additional settings for Activity Types
Activity Types are primarily used in Activities but have an additional category setting for Appointment Scheduling.
If you want an Activity to show up on your AMS+ Calendar, it must have a due date. If you want that same Activity to be marked as busy on your Appointment Schedules, its Activity Type must be assigned to the ‘Appointment’ category.
