Overview
In AMS+, you can send and receive SMS text messages to leads, clients, and agents. To use these features, you'll need a phone number. This article explains how to add and set up your number for full text-sending capabilities.

Required setup
Your AMS+ subscription includes 1 free local phone number. You can buy more numbers if you need them. Just keep in mind that each extra number will add to your account's monthly billing cycle. Also, toll-free 800 numbers can't be used for texting due to new regulations. You can also port your own numbers for sending SMS messages within AMS+.
To get started:
- Go to My Agency Settings.
- Scroll down or use the search filter to locate and open the SMS Setup or Phone Dialer & Call Queues setting. Depending on your AMS+ subscription package, you will see either of the screens shown below.

Or - Go to the SMS Setup > Phone Numbers tab or Phone Dialer & Call Queues > Phone Numbers tab and purchase a phone number. Depending on your AMS+ subscription package, you will see either of the screens shown below

Note: SMS text messages can’t be sent from toll-free numbers (1-800).

Recommended setup
Set the time zone in your account profile. You can change your time zone on the My Account > My Info tab.
Set the times allowable to send text messages from AMS+. You can change these times on the My Account > Account tab.
Set up caller ID. AMS+’s SMS service is built upon the FCC's regulations. Visit the FCC Site for full information on the FCC’s regulations. Due to these regulations, your SMS messages are not allowed to have masked caller IDs. The caller ID must be associated with the provider that the message is being sent from. If you have a VoIP phone number with AMS+, you can choose which numbers have the SMS caller ID.
